THE REAL HEROES

 THE REAL HEROES

India is celebrating its 76th Independence Day. This day commemorates India’s independence from the British rule. A proud day for Indians indeed and it is a perfect time to remember our soldiers and their families. The Indian army stands vigil despite the harsh weather and tough conditions. For a soldier, Independence Day symbolizes patriotism and duty, away from home. Be it the altitude or bitter cold, nothing stops our warriors.

When it comes to the soldier’s family, military kids have the most difficult, wonderful, incredible time…..it’s a nomadic life with the father. I, being an army kid, have lived with my soldier father since my childhood. Being in disciplined surroundings as well as changing five stations and being to K V schools in different states taught me different cultures, diversities, punctuality, responsibilities on my shoulder and the great thing that I learnt, is to adapt anywhere and sometimes when the father doesn’t make up to the various occasions, festivals, PTMs….. the mother motivates the child saying that his father is unique, serving the motherland. The family forgets everything when they see the soldier donning the olive green uniform. The memories remain for lifelong.

I had the privilege to be a part of the defense life and feel proud to be a part of the Army family. We celebrate because the army stands guard!
